Στη σκηνή της νεανικής επιχειρηματικότητας της Ευρώπης, η Κύπρος δήλωσε και φέτος δυναμικά «παρούσα».
Η αποστολή του Junior Achievement Κύπρου ταξίδεψε στην Αθήνα και εντυπωσίασε, με δύο ομάδες που όχι μόνο τόλμησαν να ονειρευτούν, αλλά και κατάφεραν να ξεχωρίσουν ανάμεσα σε εκατοντάδες νέους επιχειρηματίες από όλη την ήπειρο. Για τον λόγο αυτό, η Κύπρος επιστρέφει από το GEN-E 2025 με δύο σημαντικά ευρωπαϊκά βραβεία, εδραιώνοντας τη θέση μας στον χάρτη της Ευρωπαϊκής καινοτομίας.
Στο GEN-E 2025, το μεγαλύτερο φεστιβάλ νεανικής επιχειρηματικότητας στην Ευρώπη, χιλιάδες μαθητές/τριες και φοιτητές/τριες παρουσίασαν ιδέες που απαντούν στις προκλήσεις του σήμερα και ανοίγουν δρόμους για το αύριο. Ανάμεσά τους, οι κυπριακές ομάδες Peellastic και MedschoolPal, απέδειξαν ότι η καινοτομία έχει κυπριακή υπογραφή.
Η ομάδα Peellastic κέρδισε τη 2η θέση στην Ευρώπη στην κατηγορία Καινοτομία της Χρονιάς (Upper Secondary Level) καθώς και το Ειδικό Βραβείο ΤΙΤΑΝ Future Horizons. Με μια ιδέα που μετατρέπει τα οργανικά απορρίμματα και τις φλούδες πατάτας σε βιοπλαστικό, η Peellastic, η μαθητική εταιρεία του Λυκείου Αγίου Γεωργίου Λάρνακας, απέδειξε ότι η κυκλική οικονομία μπορεί να ξεκινήσει από τη σχολική τάξη και να φτάσει στα ευρωπαϊκά βραβεία.
Η MedschoolPal, η φοιτητική startup από το Πανεπιστήμιο Λευκωσίας παρουσίασε μια πρωτότυπη εφαρμογή που φέρνει πιο κοντά την εκπαίδευση και την υγεία, κερδίζοντας επαίνους για τη δημιουργικότητα και τη χρηστικότητά της.
Η φετινή διοργάνωση του GEN-E 2025 έφερε όμως και μία ακόμη σημαντική διάκριση για την Κύπρο: το The Junior & Senior School βραβεύτηκε από τον οργανισμό JA Europe ως μία από τις δέκα καλύτερες επιχειρηματικές σχολικές μονάδες στην Ευρώπη, λαμβάνοντας τον τιμητικό τίτλο “Entrepreneurial School of the Year 2025”. Για έντεκα συνεχόμενα χρόνια, το σχολείο εφαρμόζει με συνέπεια τα προγράμματα επιχειρηματικότητας και καινοτομίας του Junior Achievement Cyprus, εμπνέοντας και υποστηρίζοντας τους μαθητές του να αναπτύξουν επιχειρηματική σκέψη και δημιουργικότητα.
Οι μαθητές/τριες μίλησαν για μια εμπειρία γεμάτη συναισθήματα, την οποία περιέγραψαν με τρεις λέξεις: εμπειρίες, ενθουσιασμός και περηφάνεια. Όπως ανέφεραν, είχαν την ευκαιρία να γνωρίσουν νέους ανθρώπους, να μάθουν πολλά και να ζήσουν μια ανεπανάληπτη στιγμή, την οποία εύχονται να μπορέσουν να ζήσουν και άλλοι νέοι και νέες στο μέλλον.
Η κυπριακή αποστολή στηρίχθηκε από ανθρώπους και φορείς που πιστεύουν στη δύναμη της νέας γενιάς: την Πρόεδρο του JA Cyprus και Διευθύντρια του PwC Foundation, Κωνσταντίνα Λογοθέτη, τον Διευθυντή του Ιδρύματος Έρευνας και Καινοτομίας, Θεόδωρο Λουκαΐδη, την επιθεωρήτρια του Υπουργείου Παιδείας, Ζιαννέτ Καλακουτή Χατζηιωσήφ, την Αναπληρώτρια Εκτελεστική Διευθύντρια του ΟΝΕΚ, Μαρία Μιλτιάδου, εκπαιδευτικούς, μέντορες, φοιτητές και την ομάδα του JA Κύπρου, οι οποίοι στήριξαν με την παρουσία και τις γνώσεις τους τους νέους συμμετέχοντες.
Η συμμετοχή της Κύπρου στο GEN-E 2025 έγινε δυνατή χάρη στη στήριξη των συνεργατών των προγραμμάτων: PwC Κύπρου, MetLife Κύπρου, Υπουργείο Ενέργειας, Εμπορίου και Βιομηχανίας, Ίδρυμα Έρευνας και Καινοτομίας και Υπουργείο Παιδείας, Αθλητισμού και Νεολαίας.

Silver Award for Cyprus at GEN-E 2025
2nd Place in Europe for the Cyprus Student startup Peellastic
Cyprus was once again dynamically “present” at the European youth entrepreneurship stage. The Junior Achievement Cyprus delegation travelled to Athens and impressed the audience, with two teams that not only dared to dream, but also managed to stand out among hundreds of young entrepreneurs from all over the continent. For this reason, Cyprus returns from GEN-E 2025 with two important European awards, consolidating our position on the European innovation map.
At GEN-E 2025, the largest youth entrepreneurship festival in Europe, thousands of students presented ideas that respond to today’s challenges and pave the way for tomorrow. Among them, the Cypriot teams Peellastic and MedschoolPal, proved that innovation has a Cypriot signature.
The Peellastic team won the 2nd place in Europe in the Innovation of the Year category (Upper Secondary Level) as well as the TITAN Future Horizons Signature Award. With an idea that turns organic waste and potato peels into bioplastic, Peellastic, the student company of Agios Georgios Lyceum Larnaca, proved that the circular economy can start from the classroom and reach the European awards.
MedschoolPal, the student startup from the University of Nicosia, presented an original application that brings education and health closer together, earning praise for its creativity and usability.
This year’s edition of GEN-E 2025 also brought another important distinction for Cyprus: The Junior & Senior School was awarded by JA Europe as one of the ten best entrepreneurial schools in Europe, receiving the honorary title of “Entrepreneurial School of the Year 2025”. For eleven consecutive years, the school has consistently implemented the entrepreneurship and innovation programmes of Junior Achievement Cyprus, inspiring and supporting its students to develop entrepreneurial thinking and creativity.
The students spoke of an experience full of emotions, which they described in three words: experiences, enthusiasm and pride. As they mentioned, they had the opportunity to meet new people, learn a lot and live a unique moment, which they hope other young people will be able to experience in the future.
The Cypriot delegation was supported by people and institutions who believe in the power of the new generation: the Chairwoman of JA Cyprus and Director of the PwC Foundation, Konstantina Logotheti, the Director of the Research and Innovation Foundation, Theodoros Loukaidis, the Inspector of the Ministry of Education, Janet Kalakouti Hadjiiosif, the Deputy Executive Director of Youth Board of Cyprus, Maria Miltiadou, teachers, mentors, students and the JA Cyprus team, who supported the new participants with their presence and knowledge.
