Μετά την επιτυχία της περσινής διοργάνωσης το Limassol Boat Show Conference 2025 επιστρέφει, συνεχίζοντας την προσπάθεια για ενίσχυση του διαλόγου γύρω από τις προκλήσεις και τις προοπτικές του ναυτιλιακού τομέα στην Ευρωπαϊκή Ένωση.
Το Limassol Boat Show Conference, που πραγματοποιήθηκε τον Μάιο του 2024 στο πλαίσιο του Limassol Boat Show, ολοκληρώθηκε με θετικά αποτελέσματα και σημαντική συμμετοχή από ειδικούς και επαγγελματίες του χώρου. Yπενθύμισε τη στρατηγική σημασία του ναυτιλιακού κλάδου για την Ευρωπαϊκή Ένωση και την Κύπρο, με στόχο τη δημιουργία ενός δυναμικού, βιώσιμου και καινοτόμου μέλλοντος για την παγκόσμια ναυτιλία.
Την περσινή διοργάνωσή, την οποία συντόνισε ο πρώην Υφυπουργός Ναυτιλίας Κύπρου, κ. Βασίλης Δημητριάδης, δομήθηκε γύρω από πέντε θεματικές ενότητες. Στην κεντρική συνεδρία συμμετείχαν οι πρόεδροι των Ενώσεων Μαρίνων Κύπρου και Ελλάδας, καθώς και εκπρόσωποι της διεθνούς ναυπηγικής εταιρείας Sunseeker, οι οποίοι παρουσίασαν και ανέλυσαν τις προκλήσεις και τις ευκαιρίες του κλάδου.
Το συνέδριο κάλυψε ένα ευρύ φάσμα θεμάτων, όπως η νομική και φορολογική ρύθμιση του τομέα, η διαχείριση πληρωμάτων, οι νέες τεχνολογίες στον τομέα της ναυτιλίας και οι στρατηγικές περιβαλλοντικής προστασίας. Ειδικότερα, συζητήθηκαν οι σημαντικές εξελίξεις στην Κύπρο, με έμφαση στην ανάπτυξη υποδομών και την αύξηση του αριθμού των μαρίνων, καθώς και οι προοπτικές του ναυτικού τουρισμού ως κρίσιμου παράγοντα για την τοπική οικονομία.
Κατά το συνέδριο, τονίστηκε η ανάγκη διαμόρφωσης ανταγωνιστικού φορολογικού και νομικού πλαισίου, ώστε η Κύπρος να μπορεί να ανταγωνίζεται ισότιμα άλλες ευρωπαϊκές χώρες. Προτάθηκαν κίνητρα όπως η απαλλαγή καυσίμων και ανταλλακτικών, σύγχρονες τελωνειακές διαδικασίες και απλοποίηση καταχώρησης σκαφών. Δόθηκε έμφαση στην προώθηση της Κύπρου ως κορυφαίου προορισμού θαλάσσιας αναψυχής, με υπηρεσίες υψηλής ποιότητας και προσβάσιμες μαρίνες. Επιπλέον, αναδείχθηκε η σημασία της περιβαλλοντικής βιωσιμότητας, μέσω βιώσιμων πρακτικών, υπεύθυνης διαχείρισης αποβλήτων και χρήσης σύγχρονων τεχνολογιών για την προστασία του θαλάσσιου περιβάλλοντος.
Αναγνωρίστηκε επίσης η ανάγκη για διαρθρωτική υποστήριξη και συντονισμένη στρατηγική ανάπτυξης του ναυτικού τομέα στην Κύπρο, με σκοπό την ενίσχυση της ανταγωνιστικότητας και τη διασφάλιση της βιωσιμότητας του κλάδου. Ιδιαίτερη έμφαση δόθηκε στην ανάγκη εκπαίδευσης και πιστοποίησης του ανθρώπινου δυναμικού, καθώς και στη χρήση νέων τεχνολογιών, όπως η τεχνητή νοημοσύνη, για την ενίσχυση της αποδοτικότητας και της ασφάλειας στον τομέα της ναυτιλίας.

Limassol Boat Show Conference returns for a third consecutive year in May 2025
Following the success of last year’s event, the Limassol Boat Show Conference 2025 is set to return, continuing its mission to foster dialogue on the challenges and opportunities facing the maritime sector within the European Union.
Held in May 2024 as part of the Limassol Boat Show, the previous edition of the conference concluded on a high note, with strong participation from industry experts and professionals. It highlighted the strategic importance of the maritime industry to both the European Union and Cyprus, with a shared goal of shaping a dynamic, sustainable, and innovative future for global shipping.
Last year’s event, coordinated by the former Deputy Minister of Shipping of Cyprus, Mr. Vassilis Demetriades, was structured around five thematic panels. The main session featured the presidents of the Marina Associations of Cyprus and Greece, as well as representatives from the renowned international shipbuilding company Sunseeker, who discussed the industry’s key challenges and emerging opportunities.
The conference covered a wide range of topics, including legal and tax regulations, crew management, new technologies in the maritime sector, and environmental protection strategies. Specific attention was given to significant developments in Cyprus, with a focus on infrastructure growth and the increasing number of marinas, as well as the prospects of maritime tourism as a vital contributor to the local economy.
During the conference, participants emphasised the need to establish a competitive tax and legal framework that enabling Cyprus to compete on equal terms with other European countries. Proposed incentives included fuel and spare parts exemptions, streamlined customs procedures, and simplified vessel registration processes. Emphasis was also placed on promoting Cyprus as a premier destination for marine leisure, offering high-quality services and accessible marinas.
Environmental sustainability was another central theme, with discussions highlighting the need for sustainable practices, responsible waste management, and the adoption of modern technologies to safeguard the marine environment.
The conference underscored the importance of structural support and a coordinated strategy for the development of Cyprus’s maritime sector. Enhancing competitiveness and ensuring long-term viability were seen as key priorities. Special attention was given to the need for workforce training and certification, as well as the integration of new technologies such as artificial intelligence to improve operational efficiency and safety in maritime activities.
